Darken Blown Out Part of Background in Aquarium Fish Photo

Quick tutorial of how to darken a blown out part of a background in an aquarium fish photo.

I liked the look of the background rocks on the left but the ones on the right are blown out /overexposed. I wanted to fix that and not change anything else in the image using really basic & quick tools. I love straight forward sliders and wysiwyg. Darkening the background in this image’ll help the fish become more visually prominent.

I’m using Photoshop for Dummies (Elements 8.0) for the tutorial.

As with many things in the Photoshop family of programs, there are many ways to do things so don’t think this is the only or correct way. It’s just one that worked for this situation.
