I tried growing a sweet potato recently & it just went mushy & started to rot lol
All my tanks have the Hygger 24hr programmable lights. They're very good & have so many great settings.
Mine comes on low amber colour then over a couple of hours it works up to daylight (nice & bright but natural looking) then it works down in reverse from the dawn/morning setting in the evening until they go off at night. I've never had a fish scared when it comes on, unlike the ones that just come on full light that used to make my fish freak & stress them out.
No app just an online control panel that's easy to use/change & set up.

The Aquarium Coop light would be the best light if it was available in other countries. I'd love a lot of their products but I'm in the UK. Their sponge on the sponge filters is course & I've never found one like that over here 🫤
And as the co op light gets more popular the price will rise just like every other light
What do you suggest I set my fluval 3.0 at..I’m struggling with this and it’s stressing me out lol…I have all low tech plants in a 135g ,24 high tank…I keep discus at 84….im not sure if I’m supposed to go high light because of the depth of the tank or low light because of the type of plants I have…I have 2 36 inch fluval 3.0 resting on glass top…tia
An often overlooked option is the Prizm that's sold by NilocG. Not a lot of money for the quality of light you're getting. Also, I like how you kinda blasted PAR a bit. I agree, it's really only part of the puzzle. The quality and the spectrum matters a lot, if not, more than PAR. You don't need to blast your plants with crazy high PAR readings if your light is giving your plants the proper spectrum. However, I still see it as an important piece of the overall puzzle for people who are into the more advanced side of planted tanks. That's why I have a Seneye Reef Monitor, I can get PAR and spectrum data at home.
Meanwhile my planted aquarium looks like a bunch of potatoes counting the day to die

in Indonesia we have kandila, a local aquascape equipment.
thay have R800 led, a 80cm WRGB with high lux just cost IDR 120.000 or $ 10.

But can you please consider doing a video about lighting for fish only tanks? Specifically regarding wavelengths and wattage.
All the information about lighting (and even the adverts for the lights themselves) focus on plant growth. What if you have no live plants and just want to make your fish colors pop?
So I was basically planning on getting an LED fixture with independent W, R, G, & B adjustability levels to try to figure it all out myself (from like Nicrew or Finnex).

Hm great video, but i think PAR should not be erased for what light you choose, it all depends on how high ur tank is aswell and this is when PAR comes in to play, and also the price is blowing away haha, my tank is 60cm (live in Sweden) and did a bummer choice and picked up juwels helialux with a controller.. and i regret it as many of the plants stay green and dont colorize (can u say it like that?) as good, and my carpet plants grows high instead of crawling, sure i can spend like 500dollars on another one but then again the pricing for them both is blown away haha.. so the conclusion is a cheeper light is good but you probably need a few of them or find a mid range price in for just one,. My tank is a 450L (L:150cm x D:50cm x H:60cm ) and i am Busted.. so i regret the juwel light, instead of making a few cheeper lights.. 😁 hope i explained it well rofl.
Perhaps i should cut my tank down to 40cm high then the juwel is perhaps a good expensive as F!#k light and could be count is a high tech light, adding co2 and ferts aswell rofl.

I love the Aquarium coop light for growing plants, but I don't love the way my tanks look with it compared to something like a Chihiros or higher end Twin star type light. But you can't beat the price on them and that 3 yr warranty.

Wow! If you can drop a light, bang it front and back, dip it in tank water, drop kick it and it still works perfectly…that's the light for me. Can't believe you drop kicked the light, lol.

100% agree. I've used a good chunk of lighting, T5HO fluro's, cheap floodlights, cheap aquarium lights, mid tier fluval's, nicrew, twinstar, DIY's but recently got a Chihiro's WRGB II at a really good price. Outside of power/light output, everything for or less grew plants the same. But boyo do things just look better under the WRGB II. Everything just seems more vivid in general, plants look better, hardscape looks better, fish look better but the biggest difference I found was in my cherry shrimp. They absolutely pop under these lights and it is no contest.

Awesome …. a full video after a long time …. loved it as usual. Question- How about Lumens per square inch ? I still use that to calculate overall light amount in my tank. It may b because i am a cheap f#### and i use three 18" Led on a 50 G planted tank to lit it.. Still line to know ur view.
We bunny proofed our whole house but they still find ways to chew up the cords if they can. It’s adorably frustrating.

How can I tell if my plant melt is because of not enough lighting? Specifically Monte Carlo or other carpeting plants.
What you are referring to regarding the light is the "CRI" (Color Rendering Index). Which does not relate to color temperature. Think more along the lines of the color accuracy of different computer or phone displays.

Side note, I think it’s worth mentioning that although Hygger has been an entry level light with the multiple color LEDs (red green blue and white separated) they have recently released two more mid level comparable lights at great price point of $100 for the 4ft light controlled by a remote, or $140 for the 4ft app controlled version.
They use WRGB LEDs and like you said, really do make a difference with how the tank will look overall. Single colored LEDs tend to make separate color reflections and refractions all over inside the tank and out.

Little caveat to add…. Aquarium Coop light might outsell Fluval in the US one day, but as Cory only delivers in the US I think Fluval will be fine globally 😉. Nice explanation though, and the tank is coming on nicely, or did I spy some melt on the montecarlo at the top of the trees?
